Luca

Notes: Luca Fogale’s music resonates deeply with me, and I try to catch his gigs whenever he’s touring Europe. There’s something incredibly comforting about his sound. His lyrics can be devastating but, at the same time, feel like gentle emotional excavation, rather than escapism (similar to Julia Wolf’s ‘Life is a Storm’ and Rosie Darling’s ‘I’m Scared’).

I wrote this poem on my way home from Luca’s gig in NL, weaving in his song titles and lyrics.

You move like a whisper through the weight of your mind,
Each step a soft echo of what’s left behind.
With Every Colour you try to begin,
But the past clings tight to your skin.

In the hush between heartbeats, you carry the cost
Of love half-given, Half-Saved and lost.
But Nothing Is Lost, though it feels that way
Your soul has a ledger time can’t betray.

You’re Worthy of Love, not for what you achieve,
But for breathing, for breaking, for choosing to believe.
The night you sing through is long and deep,
And healing hums, in the songs you keep.

So Begin again, not in a distant place,
But here, in the stillness, where you meet your grace.
Unfasten your thoughts, watch them softly depart,
Make room for the light, let it open your heart.

The world is Unfolding with hands made of gold,
In the laughter of friends and the stories they hold.
Step out of your head, where shadows remain,
Into this moment, washed clean by rain.

You are not alone in your wondering flight
There are kindred souls in the arms of night.
Let your words ground you, let music mend,
Let love not be the means, but the end.

For even in silence, your voice has worth,
It hums with the ache and the pull of the earth.
And if you should wander, let memory shove
You back to yourself, still Worthy of Love.
